Players and parents,
It has come to my attention that there has been some confusion regarding pre season workouts that are underway in preparation for the upcoming season. In high school lacrosse the coaching staff from each team is not allowed to coach their own teams players from August 1st until the first day of high school spring sports as set by the WIAA. We are allowed to train, condition set up youth clinics etc. but we cannot have any lacrosse specific training with our players during this "quiet time". This year as in the past the coaching staff has chosen to hold captains practices on Saturday mornings at the WRHS field. These practices are not mandatory and are open to all students from the high school that want to participate. The coaching staff is at the field to supervise these practices and work with the kids on conditioning, strength training and speed and agility. Typically the first hour coaches work with the kids, the second hour the kids gear up and play lacrosse. Although coaches cannot participate in the second hour we always have a coach at the field to monitor. This is termed a "captains practice" by your coaching staff. I do know the boys have been setting up time on the field on their own after school. Although they may be called captains practices by the boys they are not set up nor supervised by a member of the coaching staff. These would not be termed "captains practices" by your coaching staff. For upcoming events and changes to our schedule I will communicate to parents and players via our website wrhornetslacrosse.com click the coaches corner tab. As needed I also lean on the booster club to send emails to get critical information out. We do not "overuse" this method so if you receive an email from the boosters you should know there is important information in the contents for you to review. Notice there is no twitter, text, facebook, instagram, etc . If you are receiving information from other sources than the 2 mentioned above it is not coming from or endorsed by your coaching staff. Hope this clears up any mis-understanding and look forward to the 2017 season Comments are closed.
